About Krabi
Krabi is where the limestone comes down to the Andaman Sea, and almost every frame has a cliff in it. Railay is the centrepiece: a peninsula cut off from the road by walls of rock, so the only way in is a short longtail ride from Ao Nang or Krabi Town, which keeps it slower and quieter than the beaches you can drive to. Phra Nang Cave Beach at its tip, with stalactites hanging from the cliffs over the sand and a cave shrine at one end, is the beach people travel for, and it is calmest early in the morning. Ao Nang is the base: a long beach facing the sunset, with islands on the horizon and the ribboned longtail boats pulled up on the sand. Inland, the Tiger Cave Temple's twelve hundred-odd steps climb to a golden Buddha and a view over the whole limestone plain, best at sunrise before the heat. Island-hopping boats run out to the Hong islands and the Phi Phi group. The dry season runs from about November to April, when the sea is flat and clear; from May to October the southwest monsoon brings rain and swell, and the cliffs are at their greenest.

Frequently asked questions
How long is a wedding photoshoot in Thailand?
Most sessions run between forty-five minutes and two hours. In Thailand the time of day matters more than the length: the sun rises and sets between roughly six and seven o'clock all year, the soft light lasts only a short while because the sun climbs fast, and by mid-morning heat and hard overhead light take over. An hour that starts at sunrise or ends at sunset usually gives more than two hours at noon. The photographer's packages on their profile say exactly what each length includes.
Which month is best for a beach wedding in Thailand?
It depends on the coast. Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak and Koh Lanta are driest from about November to April; their rainy season runs roughly mid-May to mid-October and peaks in September. Koh Samui and its neighbours have the opposite pattern, with the heaviest rain from October to December. Plan the ceremony for the last hour before sunset — the sun sets between about six and seven all year — and give the photographer time for portraits in that light before the reception. If the ceremony is at or near a temple, ask the temple first: rules for weddings and shoots differ from one temple to the next.
How much does a photoshoot in Krabi cost?
Each photographer sets their own price for a photoshoot in Krabi: every package on their profile shows an all-inclusive price, and nothing is added at checkout. Packages differ by how long the session runs and how many edited photos you receive, so compare a one-hour beach session against a longer one before you book.
When is the best time for a photoshoot in Krabi?
November to April, when the Andaman is calm and the longtail boats run without drama. Railay is cut off from the mainland by limestone cliffs and reached only by boat from Ao Nang or Krabi town, so a session there starts with a boat ride and fits around the boats. The cliffs glow in late-afternoon light, and the sandbar off Koh Tup only appears at low tide — check the tide table before you plan around it. From May to October the sea is rougher and boat trips are often cancelled. The islands offshore lie inside national parks with their own entrance fees.
