Engagement Photographer in Koh Phangan
An engagement shoot on Koh Phangan is jungle and water — a longtail to Bottle Beach, the Mae Haad sandbar out to Koh Ma at low tide, and the island's green interior from a hilltop viewpoint; it is about half an hour by boat from Samui, and the roads to the north-east bays are steep, so the photographer plans the transport.

About Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan is known abroad for one thing, the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin, and most of the island has nothing to do with it. Away from that south-eastern tip it is green, hilly and slow, with coves reached by dirt road or longtail boat. Bottle Beach on the north coast is the classic hideaway, reached by boat from Chaloklum or a steep jungle trail, with a viewpoint on the ridge above looking down on the whole curve of the bay. On the north-west coast, the islet of Koh Ma is tied to the beach at Mae Haad by a sandbar that surfaces at low tide, so a couple can walk out across the water — the tide table decides when the session starts. The east coast around Thong Nai Pan faces the sunrise. Phangan is half an hour by boat from Samui, the easy add-on for a honeymoon or an elopement that wants jungle and empty sand rather than a resort lawn. It shares the Gulf's calendar: the best weather is from about January to August, and the heaviest rain falls from October to December.

Frequently asked questions
How long is an engagement photoshoot in Thailand?
Most sessions run between forty-five minutes and two hours. In Thailand the time of day matters more than the length: the sun rises and sets between roughly six and seven o'clock all year, the soft light lasts only a short while because the sun climbs fast, and by mid-morning heat and hard overhead light take over. An hour that starts at sunrise or ends at sunset usually gives more than two hours at noon. The photographer's packages on their profile say exactly what each length includes.
Can we take engagement photos at temples in Thailand?
At many temples, from the grounds, if you dress and behave as any visitor should: shoulders and knees covered, shoes off before entering a hall, no climbing on Buddha images or posing above them, feet never pointed at an image or a monk, and women don't touch monks. Kisses and lifts belong outside the temple walls. Rules are set temple by temple: some halls ban photos inside (the main hall of Chiang Rai's White Temple is one), one Bangkok temple banned wedding and commercial shoots in 2024, and at Ayutthaya's Wat Mahathat visitors kneel to photograph the Buddha head in the tree roots. Your photographer plans the route around what each place allows.
How much does a photoshoot on Koh Phangan cost?
Each photographer sets their own price for a photoshoot on Koh Phangan: every package on their profile shows an all-inclusive price, and nothing is added at checkout. Packages differ by how long the session runs and how many edited photos you receive, so compare a one-hour beach session against a longer one before you book.
When is the best time for a photoshoot on Koh Phangan?
Like Samui, Phangan is driest from about February to April and wettest from October to December. Here the date matters more than the season: the Full Moon Party takes over Haad Rin's Sunrise Beach every month around the full moon, with thousands of people, full ferries and minimum stays at the nearby hotels. Unless the party is the shoot, avoid the days around it, or stay on the quiet north and west coasts, which have the empty sand and, on the west, the sunsets. There is no airport: boats come from Samui and the mainland, and rough seas from October to December can cancel them.
