Engagement Photographer in Koh Lanta

An engagement shoot on Koh Lanta is two coasts in one afternoon — the Old Town's wooden piers and Chinese shophouses on the sheltered east side, then across the island to a west-coast beach for sunset; people live and work on the Old Town's piers, so ask before stepping onto one.

About Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta is the island people choose when they want the Andaman without the bustle. Its west coast is one beach after another, each facing the sunset, with soft sand and calm water in the dry season — a natural fit for families with small children and for couples who want an unhurried evening session. The east coast is a different island: Lanta Old Town, once a stop for traders sailing the coast, is a single street of wooden shophouses and century-old stilt houses over the water, with a Chinese shrine and wooden piers that look their best in soft morning light. At the southern tip, Mu Ko Lanta National Park ends in a rocky headland with a white lighthouse above the sea and a short forest trail. Lanta has no airport — the nearest is Krabi — and is reached by road and ferry, which keeps it quieter than Phuket. The dry season from about November to April is the time to come; from May to October the monsoon brings rain and rough seas, and some boat services run less often or stop.

Frequently asked questions

How long is an engagement photoshoot in Thailand?

Most sessions run between forty-five minutes and two hours. In Thailand the time of day matters more than the length: the sun rises and sets between roughly six and seven o'clock all year, the soft light lasts only a short while because the sun climbs fast, and by mid-morning heat and hard overhead light take over. An hour that starts at sunrise or ends at sunset usually gives more than two hours at noon. The photographer's packages on their profile say exactly what each length includes.

Can we take engagement photos at temples in Thailand?

At many temples, from the grounds, if you dress and behave as any visitor should: shoulders and knees covered, shoes off before entering a hall, no climbing on Buddha images or posing above them, feet never pointed at an image or a monk, and women don't touch monks. Kisses and lifts belong outside the temple walls. Rules are set temple by temple: some halls ban photos inside (the main hall of Chiang Rai's White Temple is one), one Bangkok temple banned wedding and commercial shoots in 2024, and at Ayutthaya's Wat Mahathat visitors kneel to photograph the Buddha head in the tree roots. Your photographer plans the route around what each place allows.

How much does a photoshoot on Koh Lanta cost?

Each photographer sets their own price for a photoshoot on Koh Lanta: every package on their profile shows an all-inclusive price, and nothing is added at checkout. Packages differ by how long the session runs and how many edited photos you receive, so compare a one-hour beach session against a longer one before you book.

When is the best time for a photoshoot on Koh Lanta?

November to April, when the boats run and the long west-coast beaches get their sunsets over a calm sea. Lanta can be reached by road all year, with a car-ferry crossing on the way, while the speedboats from Krabi, Phi Phi and Phuket are cut back from May to October. In that low season the sea is rough, some smaller hotels and the beach bars close, and the beaches are close to empty — lovely if you don't mind showers. Lanta Old Town on the east coast, with its wooden houses on stilts over the water, faces the sunrise and suits a morning session.
