About Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is the island people choose when they want the Andaman without the bustle. Its west coast is one beach after another, each facing the sunset, with soft sand and calm water in the dry season β a natural fit for families with small children and for couples who want an unhurried evening session. The east coast is a different island: Lanta Old Town, once a stop for traders sailing the coast, is a single street of wooden shophouses and century-old stilt houses over the water, with a Chinese shrine and wooden piers that look their best in soft morning light. At the southern tip, Mu Ko Lanta National Park ends in a rocky headland with a white lighthouse above the sea and a short forest trail. Lanta has no airport β the nearest is Krabi β and is reached by road and ferry, which keeps it quieter than Phuket. The dry season from about November to April is the time to come; from May to October the monsoon brings rain and rough seas, and some boat services run less often or stop.

Frequently asked questions
How long is an elopement photoshoot in Thailand?
Most sessions run between forty-five minutes and two hours. In Thailand the time of day matters more than the length: the sun rises and sets between roughly six and seven o'clock all year, the soft light lasts only a short while because the sun climbs fast, and by mid-morning heat and hard overhead light take over. An hour that starts at sunrise or ends at sunset usually gives more than two hours at noon. The photographer's packages on their profile say exactly what each length includes.
Can we get legally married in Thailand, or only have a ceremony?
Both are possible. The legal marriage is registered at a Thai district office (amphoe); foreigners first get an affirmation of freedom to marry from their embassy, which is translated into Thai and legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs β each embassy sets its own process, so check yours early. Since January 2025 the same applies to same-sex couples. Many couples register at home and keep the Thai day for the ceremony and the photos. Beaches inside national parks β the Phi Phi islands, the Similans, Ang Thong near Koh Samui β follow park rules, and a professional shoot there can need the park's permission; your photographer knows which spots do.
How much does a photoshoot on Koh Lanta cost?
Each photographer sets their own price for a photoshoot on Koh Lanta: every package on their profile shows an all-inclusive price, and nothing is added at checkout. Packages differ by how long the session runs and how many edited photos you receive, so compare a one-hour beach session against a longer one before you book.
When is the best time for a photoshoot on Koh Lanta?
November to April, when the boats run and the long west-coast beaches get their sunsets over a calm sea. Lanta can be reached by road all year, with a car-ferry crossing on the way, while the speedboats from Krabi, Phi Phi and Phuket are cut back from May to October. In that low season the sea is rough, some smaller hotels and the beach bars close, and the beaches are close to empty β lovely if you don't mind showers. Lanta Old Town on the east coast, with its wooden houses on stilts over the water, faces the sunrise and suits a morning session.
